I made a mould for a ring. I thought I knew what the outcome should be. But once I poured the resin, nothing looked the way it “should”. So I tried again, and again.
After the nth attempt, I looked at all the rejected casts and realised that they were the most interesting ones. Each different, each with its own flaw, shift, bubble, or fracture. What was meant to be a defect began to form its own peculiar logic – more truthful than the intended shape.
In the series imPERFECT, what was supposed to be waste becomes the actual object. Not the corrected version, but the trace of the process. Not the idea, but its repetitions that slipped out of control.
