A musical inspired by the photography of Martin Parr and his album Small World – an ironic, humorous look at contemporary tourism, its rituals, and the absurdity of everyday life. The musical styles shift as quickly as holiday photos being scrolled through.
The production is built on 96 costumes, designed for a fast pace of scenes and rapid changes. Each sequence presents a new group of people in a new situation. The costumes are evocative, based on strong visual cues and easy to change quickly, while the whole is tied together by a recurring leitmotif of “wild” clothing in animal prints.
The visual layer is complemented by projections created together with Piotr Bartos, based on Martin Parr’s photographs. The world of tourists gains additional vibrancy through pulsating, intensely colored animations.
